nTopology 3.9 - What's New

Version 3.9

nTopology 3.9 is here! This release features significant enhancements to our GPU Acceleration technology, which ultimately makes more implicit interactions occur in real time. This was made possible by supporting more blocks, scalar lists, and block properties. In addition, you can now use the Cyclic Symmetry block with Topology Optimization blocks with compliance, displacement, stress, or volume fraction responses. As with every release, nTopology’s dedicated support team is ready to answer your questions. Please visit support.ntopology.com to gain access to helpful tutorials and support articles.

Usage Improvements

  • GPU-enabled interactivity of implicit geometry has undergone some notable improvements, which include support for more blocks, scalar lists, and properties, making it easier to visualize in real time what effect value changes will have on your models. While still a BETA feature, this release moves nTopology closer to providing implicit interactivity as the default.
  • With release 3.9, you can now use the Cyclic Symmetry block with Topology Optimization blocks with compliance, displacement, stress, or volume fraction responses. This greatly reduces the computational time because the underlying static analyses are only performed on one sector of the overall model. Cyclic symmetry is currently not compatible with natural frequency responses.

Bug Fixes

  • We fixed an issue that was causing nTopology to unexpectedly exit if you canceled the Mesh from Implicit Body by Voxels (Beta) block when the block was running a particular phase.
  • We fixed an issue where the implicit fields of the Body centered cubic foam and Face centered cubic foam Unit Cells were inverted when used in a rectangular cell map.
  • We fixed an issue found in 2.22 that was causing nTopology to unexpectedly exit when using the precise render while a scalar or integer value was selected in the notebook.
  • We fixed an issue that was found in 3.7.1 where block comments were disappearing when a notebook section was closed and then reopened.
  • We fixed an issue where custom blocks whose default inputs were using other custom blocks were not properly loading and instead loading the inputs as invalid blocks.
  • We fixed an issue where several ribbon blocks were creating deprecated versions of their blocks when being added to the notebook. Below is an outline of the blocks relative to their ribbon location that were producing deprecated versions:
    • Additive Manufacturing → Build Preparation → Orient Object
    • Additive Manufacturing → Export → Export Slices to SSL
    • Architected Materials → Utilities → Trim Lattice
    • Design Analysis → Analysis → Buckling Analysis
    • Design Analysis → Mesh Generation → Mirror FE Mesh
