nTop 4.12 - What's New?

nTop 4.12 is here! This release features our new Min and Max Feature Size Constraints for Topology Optimization. We have also improved the Context Menu so you can quickly navigate block commands. As with every release, nTop’s dedicated support team is ready to answer your questions. Please visit support.ntop.com to gain access to helpful tutorials and support articles.

Min Feature Size Constraint [Beta]

Design SpaceMin Feature Size

  • The Min Feature Size Constraint block can be used as a constraint in Topology Optimization to maintain the feature sizes of the optimized design space above a user-defined value.
  • This block is typically used to correct disconnected features in the optimization result and to enforce a minimum feature size limit for manufacturability.
  • Block Name: Min Feature Size Constraint
  • Location: Beta > Topology Optimization
  • Description: Define a constraint on the minimum feature size
    • Feature Size: The desired minimum feature size for the final object
    • Output: Optimization Constraint

Max Feature Size Constraint [Beta]

Design SpaceMax Feature Size

  • The Max Feature Size Constraint block can be used as a constraint in Topology Optimization to maintain the feature sizes of the optimized design space below a user-defined value.
  • This block is typically used with the Min Feature Size Constraint to enforce an upper and lower limit to the feature sizes generated from Topology Optimization.
  • Block Name: Max Feature Size Constraint
  • Location: Beta > Topology Optimization
  • Description: Define a constraint on the maximum feature size
    • Feature Size: The desired maximum feature size for the final object
    • Output: Optimization Constraint

Context Menu Improvements

  • We updated the right-click context menu so you can quickly navigate block commands.
  • Isolate, Visibility, Transparency, Wireframe, and Field Viewer have been consolidated into a "Display" submenu.

Context Menu

    • The display submenu is disabled for non-viewable object types like Text, Scalar and Integer.
    • Added "Add Block (S)" to the menu.
    • Appended the type name to the "Export" menu item to built blocks to clarify what type will be exported.

Context Menu

    • We renamed "Make Model Input" to "Make Notebook Input"
    • We renamed "Export/Open Block" to "Export/Open Custom Block"
    • We renamed "Copy Selection" to "Copy" and "Rename Output/Variable" to "Rename"
    • We hid irrelevant menu items.
      • "Go to Block" option for variable blocks (only shows for variable chips).
      • "Open/Export Block" option for non-custom blocks.
