nTop 5.52 - What's New?

nTop 5.52 is here! This release introduces the new Arc Tangent to Curve block. As with every release, nTop's dedicated support team is ready to answer your questions. Please visit support.ntop.com to gain access to helpful tutorials and support articles.

Arc Tangent to Curve

  • The Arc Tangent to Curve block creates an Arc tangent to a curve from an end point and radius. By default, the shorter of the two valid arcs is used.
  • Commonly used for aerodynamic profiles, such as the leading edge of a vertical tail.
  • Location: Create > Curves
    • Curve: Curve to which the start point of the Arc will be tangent.
    • Point: End point of the Arc.
    • Radius: Radius of the Arc.
    • Flip: Flips the Arc to the opposite valid solution.
    • Output: Arc

Usage Improvements

  • Connector partners can now organize their blocks into ribbon subsections, giving finer-grained control over how their connector's blocks are grouped in the ribbon.

Block Updates

  • The Translate Object block (Utilities > Transforms) now includes an overload that translates by a direction vector and a distance, instead of a single translation vector.
  • The Flow Analysis block now includes a Routine input that controls how far the solver progresses before stopping:
    • Cell Regions: Translates the geometry into a discrete voxel grid and stops before running physics calculations. Useful for visually validating voxel resolution and boundary region assignments before running a full simulation.
    • Potential Flow: Runs mesh generation and a fast, simplified physics calculation to establish an initial guess. Useful for debugging boundary conditions and confirming the flow path is connected from inlet to outlet without waiting on a full solve.
    • Full Analysis (Default): Runs the complete pipeline — meshing, initialization, and solving — until steady state is reached, producing final CFD results.

Bug Fixes

  • We fixed several issues with the Flow Analysis block's Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) solver that could produce incorrect results in certain simulations, improving overall solver robustness and accuracy.
  • We fixed an issue where connector ribbon categories could appear in an inconsistent order between sessions.
  • We fixed an issue where sorting by End Date on the license table in the org admin dashboard did not work correctly.
  • We fixed an issue that prevented users from downloading their latest add-on licenses from the add-on's page.
  • We fixed an issue where an nTop Automate license used by ntopcl was not immediately returned when the process finished, delaying its availability to other users.
