Summary
nTopology’s nTop Platform 2.9 is here! This release features Space Mouse support, two new simulation blocks for applying heat generation boundary condition, and the ability to import and export the .3MF lattice file format. As with every release, nTopology’s dedicated support team is ready to answer your questions.

Usage Improvements
Import & Export 3MF Lattice File Format
- Import Lattice: this block now includes a 3mf file format (*.3mf) import option.
- Import Thick Lattice: this block now includes a 3mf file format (*.3mf) import option.
- Export Lattice: this block now includes a 3mf file format (*.3mf) export option.
Simulation: Heat Generation Block
- Description: Applies a total heat generation to the selected entities. The quantity of heat generation is distributed across the nodes based on volume fraction.
- Region: The region of elements load will be applied to.
- Magnitude: The quantity of heat generation.
- Output: FE Heat Generation
Simulation: Volumetric Heat Generation Block
- Description: Applies a heat generation to a volume. The quantity of heat generation can be uniform across the entire object by using a scalar input or vary spatial by using a scalar field.
- Region: The region of elements load will be applied to.
- Magnitude: The amount of heat generation per unit volume.
- Output: FE Heat Generation
Space Mouse Support
- nTop Platform now supports the use of a 3Dconnexion Space Mouse for manipulating your geometries in 3D space.
- Note: Specific actions cannot be mapped directly to space mouse buttons yet.
Usage Improvements
- The automatic block visibility setting is now on by default. If you’d like to change this to off, please go to File > Settings > General and uncheck “Automatic Block Visibility”.
- The UI Ruler is now on by default. If you’d like to change this to off, please go to File > Settings > General and uncheck “Show Rule Over Scene”.
