nTop 5.28 - What's New?

nTop 5.28 is here! This release features our new Spline by Tangents block, allowing you to create curves with defined tangent directions. As with every release, nTop's dedicated support team is ready to answer your questions. Please visit support.ntop.com to gain access to helpful tutorials and support articles.

Spline by Tangents

  • The Spline by Tangents block constructs a cubic spline through points with tangent controls.
  • This block creates smooth, precise curves that pass through specified points and have defined tangent directions at those points. It is helpful in design, modeling, and simulation where exact curve control is needed, such as defining precise paths or profiles for implicit surface modeling.
    • Block Name: Spline by Tangents
    • Location: Create > Curves
    • Points: Ordered list of points to pass the curve through. The curve will be closed if the start and end points are the same.
    • Tangents: Tangent vectors of the spline at each point. The magnitude of this value will determine the distance to the adjacent control points.
    • Output: Spline

Block Updates

  • The FE Volume Mesh from CAD and FE Shell Mesh from CAD blocks now include a Preserved Nodes input. This allows you to select specific nodes to be retained in the resulting mesh. We have updated the Preserved Faces input. If left empty, the block preserves all CAD face edges by default.
  • The Remesh Surface and Volume Mesh blocks have been updated with a Preserved Nodes input to ensure selected boundary nodes are kept in the resulting mesh.
